Interview Tips
One of the amazing things about working at Pilgrims (and hospitality) is that you work with many different nationalities, making your guests day happier one pizza at a time. You can unleash your personality, show off your skills, and create lasting hospitality experiences. Like superheroes!?
But we know that applying for a job can be a little daunting, especially if it's your first job in hospitality. So we've put together a guide, and we hope it can help you prepare for your interview with Pilgrims - or somewhere else.
First things first, this might sound silly, but we want to know the real you. Got tattoos? No need to cover them up (unless they're offensive). Dyed your hair bright green? We want to see it! Currently geeking out about a new book? Tell us! Basically, come to your interview as the true version of you.
Next thing to remember is that it's always best to do some research beforehand. There's so many ways you can do this nowadays; Instagram, webpage, Tik-Tok or even better come and have a pizza and say hi to the team. Working at Pilgrims isn't for everyone. Finding a new job should be the perfect match for both parties. This means, during the interview we'll want to know what excites you to work for us what superpowers you'll bring to our team.
Your interview will likely be with a Head Chef or a General Manager pending what position you've applied for. Here's some character & skills based questions you might get asked so we can learn more about your experience and how you'll fit in to the team.
1. Tell us about a team achievement you've been involved in and the role you played?
2. How would your best friend describe you?
3. What do you love about working in hospitality?
4. Tell me about a time you have dealt with a customer complaint?
5. What has been the biggest challenge your have faced in your life?
6. Tell me about a time you received great hospitality experience?
7. What do you think are the most important skills about working in a team?
8. What skills will you bring to our team?
9. What are the most important things to you for a place of work?
10. What excites you about working at Pizza Pilgrims?
Think about what days and times you can work around family commitments or studies, and any holidays you have coming up too.
It's always a good idea to ask us questions too. From your research, collate a few questions, so you can get your own back and interview us!
If you're successful in your first interview for a position on the floor or in the kitchen, we'll invite you back for an experience shift. This means that your interview has gone well, and now it's time to put it all into action. No pressure!
During the experience shift we'll want to see how you interact with the team, the guests (if your applying for a waiter position), attention to detail making pizza (for chefs), what types of questions you're asking, and how you perform from some of the tasks you're set.
Our mission is to make people happier one pizza at a time. For us, it's about recruiting people who want to join us on the mission, and be as obsessed as we are to make our teams and guests happier every day.
So, if you want a slice of the action then we hope to see you soon.
Ciao!
